The description makes it sound as though ZX81 Micro Computer Software is just a simple BASIC compiler and nothing else. However, the Tiny BASIC Compiler is only the first item on the tape, and it's followed by no fewer than 22 other items! There are 23 programs in total here, though one of them (number 5, phone book) is duplicated (as number 9).
ResponderEliminarUnfortunately it's hard to make sense of a lot of the contents because of the lack of documentation. There must have been some sort of printed manual that hasn't been preserved, unfortunately. For instance, there appears to be a three-part business database (ZXBS, with Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger and Stock Control[?] components), some sort of database system for making interactive stories (Atlantis) and all sorts of other things, from simple road race games (Indy500 & 501) to a text adventure (Damsel in Distress), and there are versions of several common early computer games, like Mastermind and Battleships.
Some of the games are absolutely terrible (Squash and Breakout), but others look quite promising (such as Draughts, which is slow but lets you play against a computer AI, and Handicap Golf, which is simple but seems quite fun).
Overall it's an incredibly wide-ranging tape of varied software covering utilities, business software and games. It's just a pity that it's so hard to make sense of a lot of it without any documentation. Anyway, a really interesting find!
Yes, I was just coming from holydays and haven´t seen everything. But pay attention the next two weeks ;)
