Competição Yandex quase a terminar

Relembramos os nossos leitores que a competição Yandex está prestes a terminar, e já há várias entradas bastante valorosas. Fica aqui uma pequena actualização às regras, qiue Mikhail nos enviou.

Dear developers!

There are less than four days left until the submission deadline for YRGB 2025.

Perhaps someone wanted to participate in this game creation contest for ZX Spectrum but hasn't yet had time to submit an application. And someone else might have almost finished their new game but hasn't posted it anywhere yet. In that case, the game can safely be submitted to the contest on YRGB.org (https://yrgb.org)!

Let me remind you of the main rules of YRGB 2025:

1. The game must run and function on official ZX Spectrum models from Sinclair and Amstrad. Additional peripherals may be used, but they should not be mandatory (except for a joystick and Beta-Disk).

2. The game must not violate copyright and should not be a direct remake or demake of another game.

3. Until the contest ends, the game must not be published on other platforms in any form (trailers, screenshots, etc. are allowed, of course).

The final deadline for submissions is July 28, 2025, at 23:59 MSK. Unfortunately, any submissions received after this point will be considered late.

However, to make things a little easier this year, we’ve introduced a couple of changes to the submission process:

1. If you submit your game on time (by July 28), you’ll have an additional three days (until July 31) to upload an update through your personal account. For example, maybe you discovered a critical bug that breaks the game, tweaked the game balance, added new graphics, or included an English version.

Important: For your submission to be considered “on time,” the initial version uploaded to your account must actually run and be playable. A placeholder or non-functional build won’t count.

2. You can still submit a game up to three days late — until July 31 — but there will be a penalty of 5% off your total score (from both jury and user ratings) for each day past the deadline.

Here are a few examples of how the new system works:

a) If you submit your game by July 28, there’s no penalty at all. You can update your game until July 31. Starting August 1, no updates will be accepted.

b) If you can’t make the July 28 deadline and end up submitting on, say, July 30, that’s a 10% penalty. If you submit on July 31, it’s 15%. But the game will still be accepted for the competition.

c) If you submit your game by July 28, but it doesn’t work at all (e.g., it doesn’t launch, or it only loads a menu with no gameplay), then the date of your first working version will be used as the actual submission date. For example, if you upload a working build on July 29, that’s a 5% penalty. After that, you can still upload updates until July 31.
