Thank you for this. In fact, I think it's a lot more important than you say, because I've just been investigating this game, and I think that the version preserved before was incomplete!

If you look at the instructions, it refers to a part 1 and a part 2: in part 2 you have to find a missing recipe for a soft drink and then market the product. And you load part 2 separately after you've completed part 1. Well, in the previously preserved copy of the game – unless I'm missing something obvious – part 2 is missing!

Happily, though, part 2 is present in this new copy, so it's a really important find. (Is the other copy of the tape still available, so that part 2 could still be retrieved from side 2?)

NB The Spectrum version of the game's instructions also refer to loading part 2 after completing part 1, just like on the ZX81. However, the Spectrum version of the game seems to have parts 1 and 2 combined into one program, so its instructions appear to be wrong, and it's complete as a single program.

Anyway, I've compared the new ZX81 'original' part 1, preserved here, with the copy of the 'newer' part 1 that I had already, and the differences are very minor. They are:

    1. There are some small differences from line 9500 (up to line 9575), producing a slightly different visual effect in the Casino/Black Jack screen. In the version previously preserved (the later version), the word "CASINO" is animated six times by inverting its letters. But in the original version preserved here, the word itself doesn't animate; instead it's given an animated border of £s and *s that flashes six times. This is a slower animation (but I think it looks better – the newer version loses the border entirely).

    2. In this newly preserved original, there's a small difference at the very end of the listing (line 9990 and after). It presents the failure message left-justified on the screen, whereas in the later version the message is centred. The lines to save the program with auto-run are also missing from this newly retrieved original version.

If the later version of the part 2 game can still be preserved, that'd be great! However, it's fantastic that at least we do now have a version of part 2 available. And judging by the tiny differences between the two copies of part 1, hopefully any changes in the still-missing newer version of part 2 will also be very small.
